Notwithstanding the fact that injury has disturbed the former Tottenham center-back, it doesn’t reduce how much love the fans and supporters of the club have for him.
King believes that the players are really talented but Josh Onomah is a really big, powerful lad. Onomah just recently clocked 19 and has got a lot of potentials to showcase, same as defender Cameron Vickers. King also believes that a young lad by the name, Marcus Edwards, should be looked out for as well.
The 36-year old also talked on the players being left behind, he believes it was always difficult but the manager should have liked all the players together preparing at the same time, but, he knows that players need to rest in order to restore some energy after a long season.
“I think good players and strong players would use that as motivation for the coming season,” King said. “I’m sure they were disappointed over the summer. They’ll put that aside, look forward to coming back and playing football. I’m sure they will use it to show they’re top players in their own right, but as a team it just didn’t happen. And that’s been the case for England for a number of years. It’s nothing that’s particularly new. They’ll be raring to go.
“I’m hoping the consistency from the squad, we’re very settled. The manager is young, ambitious and hungry; the players are the same. We have a settled group, not much change, just looking to strengthen in the right areas as a squad and I’m hopeful that will play a big part going into the start of the season, because the other teams are going to have 4, 5, 6 new players in their starting line-up. Hopefully we can hit the ground running (thanks to the) continuity.”
