LEDLEY KING WISHES SCOTT PARKER THE BEST

Tottenham Hotspurs legend Ledley King is wishing Scott Parker the best in his new role after he was appointed the club’s Under-18 coach.

Parker retired as a player and was offered the opportunity to help the club’s youth system.

King, Parker, Brad Friedel and Michael Dawson participatedin the coaching programme at White Hart Lane run by the head of coaching and player development John McDermott. King became a part time youth coach in the summer of 2014 bit he soon stopped. He claimed he “wasn’t ready” then but is confident that Parker is better equipped for the role.

“Scott has been doing his badges for a while and I think he understands that more than I did. He’s further down the line with his badges – he’ll have no problem. It wasn’t stressful but it was different,” King said.

King added that the way the game is played now has evolved, and that it was “different to how [he] was coached.” He said Scott would have learnt the new ways of doing things as he worked on his badges along the way.
The retired Spurs man then lauded McDermott for having a great eye for players and coaches. He claimed the teacher has seen a lot of coaches and knows the best ones that would succeed at the club.

Parker developed through the youth ranks before moving to play for several top sides. He played for his national team side and is keenon progressing as a coach. King claimed he could love to return to coaching sometime. For now he remains the club’s ambassador.
