KING: KEANE WORTHY OF LIFTING THE CARLING CUP TITLE

Ledley King has said that Robbie Keane was worthy of helping him lift the Carling Cup title back in 2008, the last time Tottenham won a title.

Under current coach Mauricio Pochettino, Spurs have grown from strength to strength but they are yet to raise a single title.

Leicester City fought off competition from Spurs – and 5000 to 1 odds – to emerge winners of the Premier League last year while Antonio Conte and his boys remained resolute as Chelsea waltzed to the title this year.

The 2008 triumph was the last time Spurs celebrated a title win. King and Jonathan Woodgate were very impressive when Spurs defeated the Blues 2-1 at Wembley to lift that title. King was injured for most part of the season but he put on a brilliant display when it mattered the host, wearing the captain’s arm band.

King praised Keane for the brilliant job he did in his absence, adding that the skipper was very qualified to join him in lifting the title. He claimed he thought it was right for two of them to lift the title.

Aside the MLS, that was Keane major title in his career and he was quite emotional about it. He was well received on his return to White Hart Lane despite the club having many raving youngsters around. At the final game of the league against Manchester United, the fans appreciated the player with Keane being very pleased with the reception.

There have been numerous comments on when Spurs would win a title with the current generation of top talents, in the season review. Next season, the competition is expected to be stiffer with Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho out of excuses and Arsene Wenger keen on a glorious exit.
