Harry Redknapp says he can manage any Striker

QPR manager Harry Redknapp says that he should manage striker Bobby Zamora in the same way that he did with Ledley King at Tottenham.

The former Tottenham defender suffered numerous injury problems towards the end of his career, but the England international remained as one of the top centre backs in the squad. This meant that Redknapp had to go to extreme lengths in order to make sure that King was available to play in the Premier League. King barely trained in the last few years of his contract, as it would result in swelling of his knee.

In order to keep him fit, Tottenham worked extremely hard and they were rewarded with a couple of years from the former England international who is now an ambassador at the club. Striker Bobby Zamora has played a vital role in the resurgent form of QPR, but he continues to struggle with numerous injury problems especially in the hip region. Redknapp says that Zamora needs to be managed efficiently in order to make sure that he plays for most of the league matches. The presence of Zamora has allowed strikers like Charlie Austin score goals. Austin has responded with seven in the league so far.

“Bobby has been very important for us.After about 60 to 65 minutes he has to come off, but when he’s on the pitch he has been outstanding. We were bringing him off the bench to start with, but we’ve reversed it and started him recently.Ledley didn’t train at all to be fair.To think he didn’t train one day and then play 90 minutes was unbelievable. It does take Bobby a few days to recover after a game, so it’s always on how he feels. He’s as good as anybody at doing what he does, holding the ball up and bringing people into play,” said Redknapp.
